Online gaming is a lot of fun, whether you like to go on quests with a group of your friends or play a few rounds of online poker on Casino Canuck with the hopes of winning some money.

But we never stop to ask ourselves, how much is my personal information worth? This is probably not something you ask yourself while trying to beat the final level of a gaming app that you’ve been trying to conquer for several weeks.

You ask one of your gaming contacts for tricks on how to do just that and someone sends you what you think is a helpful guide guide.

But what you don’t know is that this helpful player is a cybercriminal that wants you to get so caught up in the adrenaline rush of the game that you click on an infected link without much forethought.

However, doing so is a bad move. It will give the cybercriminal the ability to steal the data on your device and infect your network. And if the specific device is used for work, it could potentially affect your colleagues and employer as well.

The majority of those who play online games consider themselves to be gamers. Many of them either play every day or at least three times a week. There’s nothing wrong with that, gaming can be a great way to pass the time and forget our troubles in the real world.

But risks arise when we get caught up in the thrill of gaming and enter a state of mind dubbed as “gaming mode." Our competitive, adrenaline seeking nature lowers our inhibitions so that we make bad decisions when it comes to our online security.

But just like with anything connected to the internet, there are some issues. Thus it’s a good idea to have an idea of online gaming security challenges for 2017.

Scammers and hackers try to take advantage of people by coming up with fake apps that, when downloaded, give them the ability to attack your device remotely, steal your information, and make you log into special sites to reclaim your password.

Those apps are so insidious they can surf the web in the background and click on ads using your login details as well.

Additionally, scammers love to take advantage of scareware on fake apps and using popular gaming apps. They market their wares as support apps that can help beat the original. But, in reality, they can generate scareware ads.

These types of ads tell the user that their phone is filled with viruses and in order to remove them, they must pay for costly software. These apps make you believe that your device is delivering the warning so that you buy the fake fixes without thinking twice about it.

When you are playing an online game that requires team cooperation, it isn't unheard of for other players to contact you to be on their team, especially if you are highly skilled. But, some of these random players are hackers who want to get your password and the personal information from your account.

How do they manage that? Generally, they may say that they are having issues seeing or hearing you. They may recommend that you update your software and, in a seemingly helpful gesture, send you a link to a website to do so.

But if You fall for it, you may download malware and viruses onto your device. Thankfully, when it comes to internet security when gaming online, many casinos like Insta Casino have taken excellent preventative measure to ensure your safety.

Still, extra caution must be observed. If you are moving money from your bank account to your favorite site, keep a lookout for suspicious transactions. Another good idea is to change your password on a regular basis, this will protect you from those who are trying to access your account.
